CHANGES IN LATITUDE, CHANGES IN ATTITUDE

Reggie McNeal – Texas A&M

Ht:         6’2”

Wt:        198

Complete QB PPI Rating:        73.96

What Complete QB Likes About Him: McNeal has solid arm strength/  Consistent arm slot as ball is delivered/  Outstanding speed and explosiveness (posted a Combine best 4.35 40 yd. dash)/  Throws well while on the move/  Escapes well when pocket breaks down/  An exciting player that manages to make positive yardage when on the move.

What Complete QB Does Not Like: Took somewhat of a step back in senior season, as total yards, completion percentage, and yards per attempt all decreased. In addition, McNeal’s interceptions more than doubled (to nine), despite 79 fewer pass attempts/  Shows flashes of inaccuracy on all types of routes/  Does not project, at present, as a Quarterback that will be comfortable operating out of the pocket on a consistent basis/  Currently lacks the NFL-type body, in terms of weight.

What Might Happen: McNeal makes for an interesting discussion, given the promise he shows at times at the Quarterback position, as well for his ability to create offense in a variety of ways/  He has demonstrated a need to develop in several areas of his Quarterbacking game, and the guess here is that McNeal is not likely to get that chance with an NFL club, largely because he will be deemed to valuable to a team in other ways/  Look for a team to take McNeal with a mid-draft selection and then ask him to do a variety of things/  Projecting to an Antwaan Randle El type of role in the NFL does not seem unlikely.

MORE POSITION CHANGERS
