EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Baltimore Ravens plan to start Marshal Yanda at right offensive tackle during tonight's season-opener against the New York Jets, a strategy intended to get the five top offensive linemen on the field.

With Yanda shifting over from his usual right offensive guard spot, Chris Chester has been elevated to the starting lineup in his place.

It's unclear if this will be a permanent move, but it's believed that the Ravens are strongly considering the possibility depending on how this game goes.

The lineup change was prompted by lingering injuries for offensive tackles Jared Gaither (thoracic disc injury) and Oniel Cousins (concussion).

Yanda has been taking repetitions at tackle for several days in practice.

Cousins is expected to be available to play if needed after participating fully in practice all week.

He was carted off the field Aug. 18 during training camp and was sidelined for the remainder of the preseason.

Yanda has played tackle in the past and has been preparing to play tackle for the past several days.

The 6-foot-3, 320-pound fourth-year pro is a former third-round draft pick from Iowa. He has started 26 career games.
