CLEVELAND -- Baltimore Ravens rookie outside linebacker Sergio Kindle was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Howard County early Sunday morning, according to court records.

Kindle, 23,  was pulled over by police at 4:09 a.m., and the second-round draft pick has been issued citations for driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to obey traffic control devices and speeding. He was booked and processed and is now free on a $10,000 bond.

Kindle was pulled over on Route 1 near Route 32 in Savage and was given a ticket for driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone.

 "I haven't talked to the team yet, but I spoke with one of the security guards," Kindle said in a telephone interview with 24x7. "First and foremost, I would apologize. I don’t want to put the organization’s name in a negative light due to my actions. I made a mistake by driving. I don’t know what’s going to happen or how they’re going to handle that."

 Kindle, who's out for the season with a fractured skull suffered in July that landed him on the reserve non-football injury list, said he was driving a friend to the airport.

 When asked how much he had to drink, Kindle replied: "It wasn’t much, but I guess it was enough. I guess it was enough for me to fail a Breathalyzer."

Hours after the team's 20-10 win over the Cleveland Browns, Ravens senior vice president of public and community relations Kevin Byrne issued the following statement Sunday night: "We've become aware of the situation and we will address with Sergio as soon as we can."

Kindle said he didn't remember exactly when he's scheduled to appear in court.

 "One of the security guys called me and said he'll get back with me when they get back from the game," Kindle said.

 Kindle was arrested for DUI while in college and was suspended for three games. In a separate incident, he crashed his car into an apartment building when he was texting while driving. Kindle admittedly had a history of bar fights in Austin, Texas.

 Kindle suffered a hairline fracture of his skull a few days before training camp when he fell down two flights of stairs at a friend's house while searching for the bathroom in a dark house in the middle of the night. Kindle has acknowledged he takes medication for narcolepsy, a sleeping disorder.

 Kindle isn't the only member of the organization to have a brush with the law this year.

 Rookie kick returner David Reed has been investigated by Baltimore County police for "potential narcotic activity. He wasn't arrested or charged, but evidence was seized from his residence and has been submitted to the crime lab for testing, which could result in charges, according to police.

 Also, assistant offensive line Andy Moeller has been arrested twice this year for driving under the influence, and was acquitted of one case in Carroll County.

 He's scheduled to appear in Towson district court for this latest DWI in April.

 Kindle isn't medically cleared to practice, but was signed to a one-year, $320,000 contract. He lifts weights, does individual drills and goes through physical therapy Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.

Kindle said last week that doctors told him he might not be cleared to play football next season.

 "It's up in the air from what they tell me," Kindle said. "Basically, they're just saying they don't know. They haven't dealt with an injury like mine before, so they can't really give me a yes or a no with confidence. It's kind of in the middle.

"It's a hit or a miss. The whole point of it is if they don't know if I'll be able to take a hit just because I'm not doing anything involving contact right now."

Drafted in the second round after recording 16 sacks and 176 tackles as an All-Big 12 selection for the Longhorns, Kindle said that he's disappointed and concerned about his future.

"I always felt I would be able to play, I thought I would be able to play this year," Kindle said. "Next year, I thought it would be a no-brainer, but from what the doctors told me, it could be different."
