OWINGS MILLS -- Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs is the subject of a temporary restraining order filed against him by a woman described as a former girlfriend, according to court records and law enforcement officials.

Court documents identify a woman named Candace Williams as filing a domestic violence complaint against Suggs in Baltimore District Court on Friday.

A hearing Friday afternoon followed the complaint with the judge issuing a protective order. According to the order, it states that the Pro Bowl pass rusher "shall not abuse, shall not contact, shall not enter residence and shall vacate the home."

No arrest was made in the case, and a hearing has been set for Dec. 11.

"We are aware of the situation and have discussed the matter with Terrell," Ravens senior vice president of public and community relations Kevin Byrne said Saturday afternoon. "He will have his opportunity to tell his side of the story at a later date."

Suggs didn't return a telephone call and a text message.

He didn't practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Monday night's game against the Green Bay Packers due to a sprained medial collateral ligament that has sidelined him for the past two games.

It wasn’t immediately clear how the NFL will interpret the case under its personal-conduct policy, but Suggs hasn’t been convicted of any crimes previously. The league office said it will monitor the case.

However, this isn't Suggs' first brush with the law.

The former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year was acquitted of a single count of felony aggravated assault by a Phoenix, Ariz., jury in June of 2005. 

The case stemmed from his involvement in a brawl following a basketball game a few weeks prior to being drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2003 NFL draft.

Suggs repeatedly declined prosecutors' plea bargain offers that wouldn't have entailed jail time, saying he didn't want to "destroy" his name when he was confidence that he hadn't committed a crime.

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome testified as a character witness for Suggs in that case.
