OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens have invited former University of Alabama running back Roy Upchurch to try out at their minicamp this week, according to his agent.

Upchurch went undrafted and remains unsigned, so he'll attend minicamp on a trial basis.

The 6-foot, 214-pounder rushed for 923 career yards and nine touchdowns.

He worked behind Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and freshman Trent Richardson, gaining 299 yards last season.

Upchurch caught 28 career passes for 224 yards and one touchdown.

He played in the Senior Bowl, replacing injured LSU running back Charles Scott.

Upchurch scored the game-winning touchdown against Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

He had neck surgery in 2008, which sidelined him for four of his final five games that season.

The Ravens drafted nose guard Terrence "Mount" Cody, Upchurch's Crimson Tide teammate, in the second round.

NOTE: The Ravens have withdrawn their exclusive rights qualifying tender offer to safety Keith Fitzhugh, the team announced. He's now an unrestricted free agent. Fitzhugh spent the majority of last season on the New York Jets' practice squad before the Ravens signed him to their 53-man roster in December. He was inactive for the last four games of the season.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.
