The Baltimore Ravens made a surprise appearance Saturday morning at a charity run to benefit research for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Ravens director of player development O.J. Brigance, a former Baltimore linebacker on the Super Bowl XXXV team who was diagnosed with ALS last year, wasn't expecting such a large contingent of players and coaches.
Brigance was an honorary chairman for the second annual Fiesta 5K run at Power Plant Live. Players wore "Brigance Brigade" T-shirts, which is the name of his foundation.
Brigance, 38, received the Johnny Unitas Tops in Courage award at the Ed Block Courage awards banquet for his bravery in dealing with Lou Gehrig's disease, a fatal illness that progressively shuts down nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord responsible for movement.
Proceeds from the race go toward the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins.
