Ravens invite Elizabeth City wide receiver to minicamp

OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens have invited Elizabeth City State wide receiver Reggie Smith to their minicamp on a tryout basis, the school confirmed.

Besides playing wide receiver, Smith doubled as one of the top kick returners at the Division II level.

Smith led the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association with a 20.2 punt return average last season, returning three for touchdowns as he ranked second in the nation.

And he returned one kickoff 74 yards for a score, averaging 26.8 yards per return.

He also led the conference with 1,285 all-purpose yards, averaging 116.8 yards per contest.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder caught 20 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns last season.

And Smith ran for one touchdown on his lone carry, a 37-yard run.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.

  • 5/24/12: Rookie 2nd round pick Kelechi Osemele took the majority of the first-string repetitions at left guard with Jah Reid rotating in at tackle.
