Ravens get up close and personal with Casey Matthews

OWINGS MILLS -- University of Oregon inside linebacker Casey Matthews conducted a private workout and dinner with Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach Dean Pees Wednesday, according to his agent.

Matthews has an official visit with the Philadelphia Eagles today and Friday, and is scheduled to visit the Denver Broncos next week.

He has a combine medical recheck next month.

The younger brother of Green Bay Packers star outside linebacker Clay Matthews, the All-Pac 10 linebacker is on the mend from a shoulder injury suffered while bench pressing during the NFL scouting combine. The injury was a subluxation of his left shoulder and didn't require surgery.

Matthews ran the 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds at his Pro Day workout where he did everything except for the bench press.

The 6-foot-1, 232-pounder registered a 4.13 short shuttle, a 7.09 three-cone drill, a 9-5 broad jump and a 32½ inch vertical leap.

Matthews forced Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton to fumble during the national championship game. He recorded 79 tackles to lead the team in tackles last season, intercepting three passes and recovering three fumbles with nine tackles for loss. He was named the Ducks' Most Outstanding Player.

As a junior, Matthews posted 81 tackles and was named second-team all-conference.

  • 5/24/12: Rookie 2nd round pick Kelechi Osemele took the majority of the first-string repetitions at left guard with Jah Reid rotating in at tackle.
