The Beat with Aaron Wilson - Ravens extend Harbaugh

Ravens extend Harbaugh

OWINGS MILLS, Md.—John Harbaugh signed a three-year contract extension today after guiding the Baltimore Ravens to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons as head coach.

He's now under contract through the 2014 season.

Harbaugh joined Dennis Green, Bill Cowher and Barry Switzer as the only coaches to accomplish that feat.

Harbaugh's financial terms are currently undisclosed, but he was making as much as $2.5 million annually on his original deal.

It's believed his new deal is patterned after Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's contract, which averages nearly $4 million.

Harbaugh has built a 32-16 record in the regular season. He has won four of seven career playoff games.

This development follows team president Dick Cass' recent comment that the Ravens would reward Harbaugh with a contract extension soon.

Now, they have followed through on that statement.
