Ravens cut King
OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens parted ways with defensive tackle Kenny King, terminating his contract because he failed his physical.

The Ravens signed King, a former Arizona Cardinals fifth-round selection, last year to bolster their depth on the defensive line. However, he missed the entire season with injuries.

King, 26, has been plagued by injuries, including hand and wrist problems, since entering the NFL in 2003.

The 6-foot-4, 284-pounder registered 17 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble with the Cardinals.

A former All-Southeastern Conference at Alabama who finished with 190 career tackles and 11.5 sacks, King was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Ravens and allocated to NFL Europa's Frankfurt Galaxy.

NOTE: Ravens backup middle linebacker Mike Smith is participating in the NFL business management and entrepreneurial program, and will attend a seminar at Stanford business school's graduate program next month.

Smith is entering the final year of his contract and is due a $520,000 base salary.
Smith spent last season on injured reserve after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.
