OWINGS MILLS -- As the Baltimore Ravens launched a rookie minicamp Monday, they began auditioning 10 players on a trial basis, the team announced.

That includes former Towson wide receiver Tommy Breaux, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound undrafted rookie free agent who originally tried out for the Washington Redskins.

The Ravens worked out Breaux prior to the NFL draft.

Breaux, who participated in the Redskins' minicamp after the draft and was ultimately not retained, has 4.47 to 4.51 speed in the 40-yard dash and has registered an 11-5 broad jump. The junior college transfer played football and basketball for the Tigers.

The Ravens are also trying out three more large wide receivers: Chris Vaughn (Louisville, 6-3, 224), Will Buchanon (USC, 6-3 190) and Kenneth Harris (Georgia, 6-3, 215).

Buchanon has been on three NFL practice squads since leaving USC three years ago, incuding the Carolina Panthers, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders.

Vaughn and Harris both recently tried out for the New Orleans Saints.

Besides the quartet of wide receivers, the Ravens announced that they are also trying out cornerbacks Jabari Marshall (Duke) and Jonathan Zevon (LSU), safety Kelin Johnson (Georgia), defensive linemen Jameson Hartke (Ohio University), Cortez McCraney (Mississippi State) and linebacker Tony Fein (Ole Miss).

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.

  • 5/24/12: For now, the Ravens are primarily having Paul Kruger lined up at Suggs' rush outside linebacker spot.
  • 5/24/12: Rookie 2nd round pick Kelechi Osemele took the majority of the first-string repetitions at left guard with Jah Reid rotating in at tackle.
