OWINGS MILLS -- It’s not exactly a football rendition of Groundhog Day.

It just felt that way as the Baltimore Ravens unveiled their preseason schedule Monday afternoon.

For the second consecutive year, the defending AFC North champions will launch the preseason with two home games before concluding the preseason with two road games.

The Ravens will begin the preseason at M&T Bank Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, Aug. 13 before playing the New York Giants on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. The Giants game will be televised nationally by NBC.

The Ravens finish the preseason at the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field on either Aug. 24, 25 or 26 with a final preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.

Kickoff times haven’t been determined for the Eagles and Redskins games.
For the second year in a row and the fourth time in 12 years, the Ravens will end the preseason with two road games followed by a regular-season opener out of town.

The league announced last week that the Ravens will open the season at the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 10 in a 7 p.m. ESPN game.

The three road trips in a row didn’t appear to affect the Ravens adversely last year as they traveled to Minnesota and Washington in the preseason and opened the regular season by claiming a 27-0 shutout at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Baltimore began the season 4-0 en route to a 13-3 record that represents the best regular-season mark in franchise history.

The NFL is expected to release its entire regular-season schedule Thursday afternoon.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times in Westminster, Maryland.

  • 5/24/12: Rookie 2nd round pick Kelechi Osemele took the majority of the first-string repetitions at left guard with Jah Reid rotating in at tackle.
