RAVENS SIGN TWO FREE AGENTS

OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens signed a pair of free agents to bolster their roster depth, adding defensive lineman Kenny King and offensive tackle Daniel Oliphant.

King, 25, is a 2003 fifth-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals. The 6-foot-4, 284-pound former University of Alabama standout registered 17 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble with Arizona.

Released in August, he was re-signed in December by the Cardinals for a brief stint. King has been plagued by injuries since entering the NFL, missing the entire 2005 season with a wrist problem.

Meanwhile, the Ravens signed former Colby (Maine) offensive tackle Daniel Oliphant, a two-time all-league selection for the Division III liberal arts school. Colby is the alma mater of Ravens director of college scouting Eric DeCosta.

NOTE: Today marks the first day NFL teams can assign the franchise tag. The Ravens have been considering whether to use the tag on Pro Bowl outside linebacker Adalius Thomas, and the designation would cost $7.2 million.

The league deadline to use the tag is Feb. 22. Free agency begins March 2.

Thomas, 29, is expected to be a highly pursued commodity if he becomes an unrestricted free agent. He had 11 sacks and an interception last season, and has 28 sacks and four interceptions over the past three seasons.
