RAVENS RE-SIGN SAPP
OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens re-signed unrestricted free agent safety Gerome Sapp on Wednesday to an undisclosed contract.

It's believed to be a one-year deal for the special-teams standout.

Sapp, a former Baltimore draft pick from Notre Dame who was later released then reacquired last summer in a trade from the Indianapolis Colts for a conditional draft pick, played in 15 games last season with one start.

He finished with 12 tackles, two pass deflections and one forced fumble. He also registered 10 special-teams tackles last season.

Sapp's agent had said recently that he was close to a deal with Baltimore and that a contract would be finalized soon. Now, the deal is officially done. The transaction gives Baltimore three safeties under contract, including Sapp and starters Ed Reed and Dawan Landry.
