RAVENS NOTEBOOK: Team set to work out corner

OWINGS MILLS -- South Carolina cornerback Chris Culliver is scheduled to conduct a private workout for the Baltimore Ravens.

According to his agent, Culliver is also slated to work out for the Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs and take an official visit with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Houston Texans are also expected to meet with Culliver.

Culliver is projected as a third or fourth-round draft target.

A 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback who has also played safety, Culliver ran the 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.

He registered a 1.50 10-yard split and a 38 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 10-03 broad jump. He also posted a 4.08 20-yard shuttle and a 6.08 three-cone drill.

Culliver is the Gamecocks' all-time kick return leader with 2,476 yards.

Culliver dealt with a torn pectoral last season, but has recovered from his injury.

He was moved from safety to cornerback prior to last season.

As a junior, Culliver was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference selection when he recorded 52 tackles and returned 26 kickoffs for 585 yards.

As a sophomore, he intercepted three passes with 60 tackles and forced two fumbles.

Culliver signed with South Carolina as a wide receiver before moving to free safety.

NO GABBERT: The Ravens aren't conducting a private workout with Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, according to his agent.

The Sporting News reported that the Ravens were going to work out Gabbert, but that's not the case. Another team source said the report was “totally untrue.”

The Ravens have no need for Gabbert because of the presence of franchise quarterback Joe Flacco.

Plus, Harbaugh didn't attend the Mizzou Pro Day workout. There was an Associated Press report that Harbaugh was there, but that was actually San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, Harbaugh's brother.

Gabbert is projected as one of the top picks in the draft.

Ravens #1 need is an offensive tackle who can left tackle or right. I like Sherrod Miss St if he is still there. Corner in round two, center in round 3 and yes a QB in round 4 or 5. Studying the draft I cannot see a top pass rusher there in round 1 and round 2 would be a "Kruger" type that may not deveelop. A decent corner will be there in round two.
