OWINGS MILLS — Indianapolis Colts veteran free agent cornerback Marlin Jackson is touring the East Coast this week.

The Baltimore Ravens, who are believed to be extremely interested in Jackson, will face competition for him. He is scheduled to visit the Philadelphia Eagles after he meets Tuesday with Ravens team officials at their training complex.

A first-round draft pick in 2005, Jackson wasn’t tendered by the Colts as a restricted free agent, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Jackson has a history of major knee problems, with two torn anterior cruciate ligaments, so the results of a physical for him will be vitally important.

He’s expected to be ready for offseason minicamps.

The Ravens have two other cornerbacks coming off torn anterior cruciate ligaments in Fabian Washington and Lardarius Webb.

If signed Jackson, 26, would immediately add some size into the secondary as the biggest cornerback on the team at 6-foot, 196 pounds.

Jackson recorded 10 tackles and one interception last season before tearing his ACL and lateral meniscus during a practice session. For his career, he has intercepted four passes and forced two fumbles while registering 284 tackles.

When he’s healthy, he’s regarded as a solid player because of his size, physical nature and understanding of the game. He was a blue-chip high school player in Sharon, Pa., before signing with the University of Michigan.

NOTE: Ravens free agent defensive lineman Dwan Edwards met with the Denver Broncos following his visit with the Seattle Seahawks, but has yet to complete a deal. He underwent spinal fusion surgery two years ago, and that may be affecting his stock with teams. ... Webb is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation, according to his agent.
