OWINGS MILLS -- Baltimore Ravens veteran defensive end Trevor Pryce will probably be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a severe pectoral tear, according to coach Brian Billick.
A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Pryce missed five games earlier this season with a broken left wrist that required surgery.
"It's very likely that Trevor may be done for the year," Billick said during his weekly radio show Tuesday night. "We're going to miss Trevor."
Dwan Edwards will take Pryce's place in the starting lineup, and rookie Antwan Barnes will continue to fill in as a situational pass rusher.
Pryce returned from his wrist injury to play the past three games, but suffered a chest injury during the final minutes of the Ravens' 33-30 overtime loss Sunday to the Cleveland Browns. The former Denver Broncos star had entertained continuing to play despite the chest injury, but that idea was quickly overruled by the medical staff and coaches.
"Getting him back was important," Billick said. "We'll adjust, but missing him on the inside is going to be a lot to deal with."
Pryce led the Ravens with 13 sacks a year ago during his first season in Baltimore after signing a five-year, $25 million contract that included $10 million in guaranteed money. However, his production dipped to 19 tackles and two sacks this year due to injuries.
The Ravens didn't immediately place Pryce on injured reserve.
