McAlister strains knee, status in doubt
OWINGS MILLS -- Baltimore Ravens cornerback Chris McAlister doesn't have a torn posterior cruciate ligament and is regarded as doubtful with a strained right knee for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, according to coach Brian Billick.

During a radio appearance Tuesday night, McAlister said that the team informed him that he would be out for three weeks. However, he didn't rule out the possibility of playing Nov. 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers following the bye. The Pro Bowl defensive back added that the knee has been bothering him for the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, Billick refuted a WJFK-1300 radio report that claimed that McAlister would be out the next four to five weeks. Billick expressed optimism that McAlister could miss just one game.

"No, that's not accurate," Billick said Tuesday during his weekly WBAL radio program. "Chris has a knee strain, as it's been characterized. He would probably be listed as doubtful.

"It's my understanding that there's a strong likelihood that he will be available for Pittsburgh. I don't know that he won't be available this weekend. I think people are kind of making things up."

McAlister tweaked his knee during a 22-3 win Sunday over the St. Louis Rams, according to Billick.

Afterward, he wasn't limping noticeably.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.
