OWINGS MILLS -- Penn State outside linebacker/defensive end Aaron Maybin is scheduled to visit the Baltimore Ravens today, according to his agent.

The Ellicott City native and Mount Hebron graduate will have visited virtually half the league by the close of this week, including the majority of the top 10 teams in the draft.

The 6-foot-4, 249-pound Maybin has 4.64 speed in the 40-yard dash, registering a 40-inch vertical leap and a 10-10 broad jump at his Pro Day workout.

It's considered highly unlikely that Maybin would last until the Ravens' No. 26 overall pick of the first round.

"Aaron has blown the physical workouts off the charts," said Maybin's agent, Chafie Fields, in a telephone interview. "It's still football, not a track meet or a bodybuilding contest, but he has the athletic ability to go put on the pads and translate that onto the field. He's the consensus top player in the draft as far as rushing off the edge."

An All-Big Ten Conference selection, Maybin led his conference with a dozen sacks last season while recording 20 tackles for losses. He's still regarded as a bit raw and undersized, but could eventually fit in well as a 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL.

NOTES: The Ravens are sending quarterback Joe Flacco and director of player personnel Eric DeCosta to the University of North Carolina on Friday for a private workout with first-round wide receiver prospect Hakeem Nicks, according to athletic department officials. The Ravens are also going to work out Tar Heels tight end Richard Quinn. Both players have already visited the Ravens' training complex. ... Flacco and tight end Daniel Wilcox are scheduled to be honored with JB Awards at the annual NFL Players Association banquet on Thursday in Washington. They are being recognized for their respective charitable work in the community.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.
