Gregg Extends Stay In The Nest
OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens signed nose guard Kelly Gregg to a four-year, $20.3 million contract extension, meaning the heart of the NFL's top-ranked defense is now under contract through 2011.

The deal includes $3.5 million in guaranteed money, according to agent Jack Bechta. Gregg was under contract for the next two seasons with scheduled base salaries of $1.4 million and $1.7 million.

Although undersized at barely 6-foot and 310 pounds, Gregg excels because of his technique, toughness and outstanding leverage as a former heavyweight champion wrestler. He can bench press over 500 pounds.

Gregg, who finished fourth on the defense last season with 104 tackles along with three and 1/2 sacks, has more tackles over the past five seasons than any NFL interior lineman.

Gregg, who was recommended to Baltimore by Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, his former defensive coordinator at the University of Oklahoma, has been with the team since 2001.
