Gaither signs tender, practices

OWINGS MILLS -- Baltimore Ravens restricted free agent offensive tackle Jared Gaither has signed his one-year, $2.396 million tender, the team announced.

Gaither signed his first-round tender Monday, and he returned to practice from a foot injury that had sidelined him since the first week of May.

Gaither hadn't practiced since being shifted to right offensive tackle and replaced on the left side by Michael Oher.

The 6-foot-9, 340-pound former University of Maryland player has been the subject of trade rumors, especially the Buffalo Bills. However, nothing concrete has been offered to the Ravens that piqued their interest enough to move him.

At this point, Gaither's expects to play for the Ravens this year.

“Today was a good Start off the week the big hoomie out back looking good," Gaither wrote on his Twitter account.

Two Ravens restricted free agents remain unsigned: Pro Bowl fullback Le'Ron McClain and safety Dawan Landry.

McClain was assigned a $2.396 million first-round tender and Landry was given a $1.759 million second-round tender.

The Ravens have the right to reduce their tender offers to 110 percent of their 2009 base salaries if the players don't sign by a June 15 NFL deadline, but aren't expected to make that sort of hardball move.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.

What is Ozzie's hold up with signing these RFA to long term deals?Does he really want to look for replacements at kicker(Graham),punter(Koch),Fullback/running back(McClain,Rice) and defensive star tackle (Ngata)? This is an uncap year Ozzie sign your future stars instead of either losing them or overpaying them down the road! Give me a break!
