The Beat with Aaron Wilson - Foxworth takes news of lost season hard

Written By:

An emotional Domonique Foxworth discussed his season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament that he suffered Thursday during a routine walkthrough practice.

“I was just trying to be upbeat and optimistic and telling everybody that I was going to be okay and I was going to play,” the Baltimore Ravens' cornerback said. “Then, we got the images done, and they told me a different story.”

Foxworth maintained his composure as he talked about being out for the season.

“It’s a ton of emotions, but the biggest one I’m feeling, and I know it’s probably unfounded, I just feel like I’m letting people down,” Foxworth said. “I know everyone’s excited about this team and excited about the season, and my teammates I know how excited we are. I know everyone’s excited about what we were going to do.

"And I just feel like I let a bunch of people down. I know it’s stupid and everyone keeps saying ‘You didn’t do it on purpose’, but still, if you’re expecting to be there to help buttress this team in some way and then you’re not, it doesn’t matter why you’re not. The fact is you’re not there.”

Foxworth, who's on crutches, said he plans to organized film sessions and give his teammates tips.

“I’m going to find a way to contribute, because if they win the Super Bowl, I want to be able to wear the ring with pride and say that I had something to do with it,” Foxworth said. “Even if it’s not on the field.”

Foxworth said his teammates will step up.

"I have faith in those guys," he said. "If there's a shortcoming on this team, it's not going to be the secondary."
