BALTIMORE -- Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Donte' Stallworth broke his left foot during a 24-10 win over the New York Giants on Saturday night and will be sidelined for at least two months after having surgery to repair the damage, according to coach John Harbaugh.

“That’s really disappointing for him and our football team, obviously,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll step up and the next guy will play well. The good news is that it's not a season-ending injury."

Harbaugh indicated that Stallworth will have a screw inserted in his foot immediately.

Harbaugh said that he expects Stallworth to return by the Ravens' bye week, which is scheduled at the end of October.

Stallworth was on crutches after the game and didn't speak with reporters.

“It’s a setback, it’s a huge setback,” wide receiver Derrick Mason said. “Not just for the offense, but more or less for him. The offense, we’re going to continue to play. We’re going to miss Donte’, but we’re going to continue to play. But I think for Donte’, he’s worked so hard to get himself back playing at a high level. And for this to happen to him, it’s just unfortunate. 

“So, the team, we’re going to miss him, but we’ll be alright. When you think about the man, it’s a big blow because of what he’s been through. He’s got some weeks to get over it and hopefully the foot will heal quickly, and he’ll be back on the field for us.” 

Stallworth was running behind Mark Clayton in the competition for the third wide receiver position.

Clayton suffered a mild concussion, but emphasized that he's fine.

"It’s obviously something we’ll be careful with but it shouldn’t be a long-term thing," Harbaugh said.

The Ravens signed Stallworth after he was suspended for all of last season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol in Miami Beach, Fla.

Stallworth served 24 days in jail.

He was also in line for punt return duties.

"It's a shame," quarterback Joe Flacco said. "He's been doing a great job for us. He's been a big addition for us, and we've been excited about it."

Now, Marcus Smith, Demetrius Williams or David Reed would be elevated on the depth chart. A special-teams standout, Smith caught a touchdown pass against the Giants.
