Clayton, Washington, Koch sign restricted tenders

OWINGS MILLS – The Baltimore Ravens have signed restricted free agent wide receiver Mark Clayton, cornerback Fabian Washington and punter Sam Koch, the team announced.

Clayton signed his $2.277 million second-round tender.

Washington signed his $1.887 million second-round tender.

And Koch signed his $1.759 million second-round tender.

Koch said earlier this week that he had received the paperwork from the Ravens and just hadn't got around to signing it.

Clayton is a former first-round draft pick who is recovering from shoulder surgery.

He had previously said he planned to sign his tender sooner this offseason, but had been away from the team while completing his degree requirements from the University of Oklahoma.

Washington is a former Oakland Raiders first-round draft pick who's recovering from having his anterior cruciate ligament repaired.

Koch has established himself one of the top punters in the league.

Their signings leave the Ravens with the following unsigned restricted free agents: offensive tackle Jared Gaither (first-round tender, $2.396 million), safety Dawan Landry (second-round tender, $1.759 million) and fullback Le'Ron McClain (first-round tender, $2.396 million).

There’s a June 15 NFL deadline looming for restricted free agents to sign their tenders. If they don’t sign by the end of that business day, the team has the option of reducing the tender offers by roughly 10 percent above their 2009 base salaries.

NOTES: Gaither remained sidelined with a bruised foot as the team concluded its passing camp. … Defensive end Paul Kruger returned to practice for the final days of practice after being excused Tuesday.

Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.
