The Beat with Aaron Wilson - Chester won’t play today due to infected cut

Kooistra released, Mattison promoted

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Baltimore Ravens starting offensive guard Chris Chester will not play today against the Carolina Panthers as he's still battling a high fever brought on by an infected cut.

Chester was running a high fever and went to the hospital Thursday, and tests determined an infection.

Chester had been feeling bad for days before seeking medical attention, and he's now officially listed as questionable on the injury report.

Chester is going to remain bed-ridden for at least another day or two as he battles the fever.

Reserve offensive lineman Tony Moll is slated to start in Chester's place at right guard. The former Green Bay Packers fifth-round draft pick took all of the repetitions with the first-team offense Friday when Chester didn't practice.

With Chester dealing with the infection, the Ravens brought up some reinforcements from the practice squad.

The Ravens promoted offensive guard Bryan Mattison, the son of defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, from the practice squad to the active roster. And they cut offensive tackle Scott Kooistra from the active roster to create a roster spot for Mattison.

Mattison is a converted defensive end who was an All-Big Ten Conference selection at Iowa.
