Of the many Ravens players who use their Twitter accounts frequently, some of the more colorful musings come from cornerback Fabian Washington (FABEWASH31).

 

One of Washington’s favorite sayings is “going HAM.” Here’s his explanation:

 

“Hard as a mutha,” he said with a laugh. “It’s a South thing. A lot of people in the South say, ‘Going hard as a mutha.’ I just put it in an acronym.”

 

Washington, who passed his physical Thursday and was activated off of the team’s physically-unable-to-perform list after undergoing surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, has also been known to write about being in “Ric Flair mode.”

 

“That’s my new AKA this year,” he said. “If you ever watch wrestling, Ric Flair is always wired. He’s wired, and I’m talking about from the moment he gets in there until the moment that he comes out, and he’s exciting. That’s going to be me this year. I’m kind of borrowing his identity.”

 

Washington said he is very careful about using profanity or inappropriate material on his Twitter account, but he acknowledged that several of his many followers have misconstrued his comments.

 

“If I write something that somebody thinks is something else, they’ll usually write to me, and I explain to them exactly what I meant, and then there’s no problem,” he said. “They’ll be like, ‘Oh, OK.’ I never try to come off being rude. I try to give the fans, though, the real, live me. I try to keep it fun, first of all. I’m always joking on there, and I tell people, ‘Don’t ever take me seriously. I’m always joking.’ This is the only time literally when I’m being serious – on the football field. When I’m at home, I’m a comedian. So that’s what I do.”
