NFL News, Notes, Rumors & Opinion - NFL spokesman says: "Time to get a deal done"

Written By:

Reacting to the joint statement from a trio of star quarterbacks and plaintiffs, league spokesman Greg Aiello is in agreement with Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning that this is the time to strike a new collective bargaing agreement.

"We share the view that now is the time to reach an agreement so we can all get back to football and a full 2011 season," Aiello wrote on his Twitter account. "We are working hard with the players' negotiating team every day to complete an agreement as soon as possible."

Earlier today, the quarterbacks, who are plaintiffs in a federal antitrust lawsuit against the league, released a statement.

"We believe the overall proposal made by the players is fair for both sides and it is time to get this deal done," the statement reads on the NFL Players Association's lockout site. "This is the time of year we as players turn our attention to the game on the field. We hope the owners feel the same way."
