Judge Nelson Puts Foot Down

Federal court Judge Susan Richard Nelson has ordered the NFL and the players' representatives to go to mediation in Minneapolis with Chief Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan assigned as the mediator, according to the Associated Press.

Boylan is set to meet with the players Tuesday followed by the NFL the next day.

Mediation failed under the supervision of George S. Cohen in Washington D.C., prior to the players' union decertifying, filing a class-action lawsuit in federal court and the NFL locking out the players.

Nelson has been assigned the players' preliminary injunction request to end the lockout and has said she'll issue her decision in a few weeks.

This mediation isn't expected to lead to a new collective bargaining agreement.

And Nelson's pending decision is expected to be appealed to the Eighth Circuit.
