Sportsline with Steve Davis

Host: Steve Davis
Station: WBAL 1090 AM
Slot: Weekdays 6-9 PM
National Media partner: Fox Sports Radio

Styling: Lexus Sedan

Overview: Intelligent, succinct analysis and generous caller feedback are the staples of this smooth riding show. The local sports scene is the focus, but the national picture is always in the rear view mirror. Davis is never lacking for a snappy comeback or opinion.  If you want more local college content, then this model should be your choice. Steve Davis is the one host who consistently gives time to college lacrosse as he interviews coaches during the regular season and switches into high-gear come NCAA tournament time in May. Star rating:  8.0

Performance & Handling: The Steve Davis show is like a lazy jaunt across the Shawan Valley in the fall...easy to get used to. This ride takes tight turns well while navigating topics like steroid use in baseball or MMA Boxing.  The pickup is usually excellent, but sometimes gets sluggish when engaging in too much irrelevant banter with Peter Schmuck. Star rating:  7.5

Standard features: Heavy caller interaction, interviews w/ local pro and college coaches, nationally known sports writers as guests, detailed Orioles analysis with frequent co-host Peter Schmuck. Star rating:  8.5

Accessories: Player interviews, sports book authors, Ravens show with Derrick Mason and Stan White, weekly interview with Ravens coach John Harbaugh. Star rating:  8.0

Buyer beware: Sometimes berates callers that he deems have the wrong stance on a topic of debate. Star rating:  7.5

Recommendation:  This model is near the top of its class in terms of style and value.  I doubt you would be disappointed if you took it for a test drive. Star rating:  8.5

Overall score out of 60: 48.0
