THE AFC NORTH: Week 7
Quotes of the week:

“We knew they were wounded," Baltimore defensive end Terrell Suggs said. "We smelled blood and we went after it."

“It's another step in the right direction, to be able to beat a team that everybody says you're supposed to beat," Cleveland coach Romeo Crennel said.

"That's as good a front four as we've seen all year," said Cincinnati QB Carson Palmer. "Jared (Allen) is probably one of the most underrated defensive ends in the league."

Baltimore Ravens

Matched up with the winless St. Louis Rams, the Ravens made the most of their opportunity, bullying backup QB Gus Frerotte into 6 turnovers in Sunday's 22-3 victory. Terrell Suggs had one of the Ravens' 4 sacks. Baltimore's team-record 5 INT were by Dwan Edwards, Chris McAlister, Ed Reed, Corey Ivy and Derrick Martin. Matt Stover kicked 5 FG and Willis McGahee had a 6-yard TD run for the Ravens, who built a 13-0 lead at halftime and coasted. It was the first time this season Baltimore won by more than seven points. Kyle Boller was the Ravens' starting QB in place of the injured Steve McNair, going 17-for-29 for 185 yards. Boller was playing behind an OL that started three rookies because of injuries to Jonathan Ogden, Mike Flynn and Adam Terry.

Cincinnati Bengals

KC DE Jared Allen had 2½ sacks and kept the pressure on Bengals QB Carson Palmer for most of the game. TJ Houshmandzadeh caught 8 passes for 145 yards and 2 TD for Cincinnati but could not make up for a suspect defense that was further weakened by the loss of LB Ahmad Brooks and Rashad Jeanty and the suspension of CB Johnathan Joseph. The Bengals were 0-for-10 on third down conversions until finally getting their first in the 4th quarter. KC RB Larry Johnson, who had not scored a TD after sitting out all of training camp, got 119 yards on 31 carries against a defense that had been giving up 152 yards on the ground. Palmer completed 26 of 43 pass attempts for 2 TD and also threw 2 INT.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns built an early lead and held on for a 41-31 win Sunday. The Browns scored on 3 of their first 4 possessions to go up 17-3. QB Derek Anderson (18 for 25 for 245 yards and 3 TD) converted a Leigh Bodden INT into a 24-yard TD throw to Braylon Edwards on the next play. Cleveland can go into its bye week with some peace of mind. After taking the week off, the Browns play at St. Louis in two weeks with a chance to go over .500 -- a rare treat for this downtrodden franchise. RB Jamal Lewis sat out with a sprained right foot. His subs were more than adequate, with Jason Wright rushing for 59 yards and a TD on 20 carries, and Jerome Harrison adding 57 yards on 8 carries.
