RODERICK GREEN STABBED

As reported by The Sun, Ravens linebacker Rod Green, 24, was in stable condition at Sinai Hospital after being stabbed outside Kings Point Lanes bowling center in the 4100 block of Deer Park Road about 1 am Sunday morning.

Baltimore County Police Spokeswoman Sgt. Vickie Warehime said Green was walking inside the bowling center when he accidentally bumped into another man.  After a brief exchange of words, Green left the building - and was followed outside by the other man, who pulled out an unknown sharp weapon and stabbed Green at least once in the stomach.

Green fled, pursued by his attacker until the injured football player outdistanced his assailant.  The injuries are not believed to be serious and Green is being held at Sinai for precautionary reasons according to reports.

UPDATE: July 11, 2006

One day after being admitted, Ravens LB Roderick Green was released from Sinai Hospital yesterday after being upgraded to “good” condition.  The search for the alleged assailant is continuing as Baltimore County Police are on the look out for a black male approximately 5’ 10” with a lean build.

National publications reported the incident and the tragic thing for Green is that he in some ways is not only the victim, his reputation has also been unfairly tarnished.  Green, 24 is a quiet and unassuming man without any known skirmishes with the law.

Green’s injuries aren’t believed to be serious yet it remains to be seen if he’ll be ready for the start of training camp.  All things considered, thankfully good fortune was on Roderick Green’s side.
