FANTASY BLITZ: Some Not So Obvious Plays & Sits in Week 2

Saint WR Marques Colston will not be back for several more weeks, giving more value to Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson and Bronco RB Knowshon Moreno will be out Sunday, Willis McGahee will be the feature back against the Bengals.

Fantasy Plays

RB Michael Bush, Raiders at Bills

Bush is a great flex start this week. Darren McFadden will get his normal share of carries playing a Buffalo run defense that allowed 169 yards a game rushing last year and last week allowed 108 yards on just eighteen carries against the Chiefs. Bush will get plenty of touches as McFadden takes series off here and there to stay fresh and Bush is the goal line back. Raiders are a run first team and this match up plays into their hands.

RB Jahvid Best, Lions vs Chiefs

The Lions are a passing team first but all phases of the Detroit offense should score fantasy points this week. Best had seventy two yards rushing and forty two receiving last week against a tough Tampa Bay defense. The Chiefs allowed 163 yards on the ground to Buffalo backs last week.

TE Owen Daniels, Houston at Dolphins

Daniels had just one catch last week, that can scare a lot of fantasy  owners away and reach for the waiver wire when should  not in this case. The Dolphins were thrashed last week against the Patriots and allowed more TE fantasy points than any defense. Patriot TE’s had 189 yards and two scores. Daniels should come back in big way.

QB Chad Henne, Dolphins vs Houston

The Dolphins have no run game. While Houston may win the game Henne should reach  35-40 attempts,  250-290 yards, and two scores, Reggie Bush, Brandon Marshall, Davone Bess, and Brian Hartline will get plenty of touches.

Fantasy Sits

QB Matt Ryan, Falcons vs Eagles

This is another week to sit Ryan. The Eagle secondary should blanket Ryan’s outside receivers as the Bears did last week. The Falcon pass protection was below par last week and will be tested again. The Eagle weakness is run defense, they are soft in the middle and allowed the Rams 154 rushing yards. This all points to the Falcons keeping the ball on the ground. In other words, Ryan’s right arm will not be the weapon of choice on Sunday night.

RB LeGarrette Blount, Buccaneers at Vikings

Start another running back if you can, the Vikings still play the run tough, they allowed San Diego just 77 yards on the ground last week. RB Earnest Graham may have the confidence of the Buccaneer coaching staff more than Blount does right now.

TE Brent Celek, Eagles at Falcons

Celek had a decent game last year against the Falcons, catching 4 passes for 46 yards. This year though he seems to have disappeared from the Eagles’ passing game, catching just one pass last week. Keep him on your roster for now, but find another TE this week.

RB Shonn Greene, Jets vs Jaguars

The Jaguars always play well at the Meadowlands. Greene had just 26 yards last week, maybe he gets a pass because they were losing most of the game and had to throw, but LaDainian Tomlinson seemed to be the better back.
