Our goal in providing the chart below to the visitors of ProFootball24x7.com is to be a one stop shop if you will for what draft forecasters predict for the Ravens at No. 26. We have selected 21 of the top draft websites with links to each. You can think of this as your Ravens 2009 Draft Portal.
For the past several weeks we have provided the forecasted picks by site for selections 24 through 28. Some players have fallen into the 24-28 range while others have risen above the 24th pick based upon draft predictions. What happens tomorrow given the uniqueness of this draft is anyone's guess.
One of the players who has shown up on mock drafts for the Ravens is Illinois corner Vontae Davis, a player with some off the field issues. Here's some video (heads up on the sound/volume) on Davis, a player with big league skills and a big time ego to match:
In the five mock composites that we've provided, we tabulated...

That will give you a feel for the players that could be available when the Ravens are on the clock barring a trade, late afternoon to early evening on April 25.
We will also archive each chart so that you can see how steady or volatile the predictions are because as we all know, the NFL Combines can force players coveted today down the charts and those somewhat overlooked skyrocketing.
We’ll also add some things as we go along such as what the forecasters think might be available for the Ravens in Rounds 2...

Ravens need to adjust their draft strategy in Round 2

Many Ravens fans have fallen in love with Darius Heyward-Bey. They see a receiver with great speed who potentially could stretch the field which just so happens to be a screaming need of the Ravens and presto, there’s a match made in heaven.
Of course the added bonus here is that Heyward-Bey is a Terrapin – local kid stays home to fulfill a dream.
Seems like Heyward-Bey as a Raven should be a story of destiny and if you think about it he is the prototypical second round pick for the Baltimore Ravens.
And that's not usually a good thing.
If you consider the Ravens’ history in the NFL Draft, they have a pattern of selecting players with athletic skills indicative of a first round pick yet there is something about the player that invites the slide into Round 2. There’s some lingering question or doubt about the prospect as in, "he'd be a first rounder, but..."
It's the “but” that kills them!
Net it out and what ...

No. 55: Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers University, 5'8", 199
No. 71: Tavares Gooden, ILB, University of Miami, 6'1 1/4", 234

No. 106: Marcus Smith, WR, New Mexico, 6'1 1/2", 221
No. 125: Traded to Oakland Raiders for CB Fabian Washington. Scouting Report on Washington from ESPN Insiders...
Washington has adequate size for the position to go along with excellent speed, quickness and agility. He has very quick feet when backpedaling and does a very good job of keeping his chin over his toes and his weight evenly distributed. He can be a little choppy in his pedal but still manages to extend the cushion well. He can plant and drive on the ball with top quickness and is unrestricted in his transition. He has a good burst to close o...
RAVENS DRAFT ANALYSIS: A LITTLE TIGHT AROUND THE ENDS

Greg Olson, 6'6", 254, Miami (FL)
This year’s crop of Tight Ends is especially disappointing, but Greg Olson appears to be the best available. Despite inconsistent performances at Miami, a head turning 4.5 40 yard dash has fans and scouts raving. Quite good in the screen and fade passing game Olson can use his 6’4” 250 plus pound frame to box out defensive backs or run over smaller players on the perimeter. Negatives are fairly typical in being unable to be the receiver who can challenge a team deep as a tight end like Jeremy Shockey of the Giants. Even though his timed speed is impressive, Olson is a player that doesn’t have the big initial burst and doesn’t appear to play up to his timed speed. Even with these few negatives and inconsistencies, Olson is the only first round tight end in the draft.
RAVENS OUTLOOK: There is a strong likelihood that Olson will be available for the Ravens at the 29th selection, but with Quinn...

Drew Stanton, 6'2", 226, Michigan State
Stanton had excellent billing at the start of the season, but played himself out of contention with his hot and cold style that has defined the Michigan State Spartans for years. Stanton has the size to play the position well and is able to do a lot on the field with his legs. This danger has helped the Spartans at times though in many instances Stanton would have been better off moving to make time to throw the ball, a transition made by Troy Smith this past year with remarkable success. Outlooks vary on the prospect, ranging from the second coming of Tony Banks with great ability and horrendous decision making to Phil Simms comparisons. Some of Stanton’s issues may be caused by his supporting cast of lineman and receivers who are less than those of many other quarterbacks in this draft. Finally, Stanton has a tendency to get flustered under pressure which is where most of his mistakes are made...
RAVENS DRAFT ANALYSIS: FULLBACKS
Posted On: 4/27/07

It seems quite likely the Ravens will draft one of the top available fullbacks with Justin Green returning from a knee injury and Mike Anderson being a few years removed from the position. Who exactly are the top fullbacks?
Brian Leonard: Rutgers 6’1” 238 4.52
Leonard is listed all over draft boards as a fullback, but really desires to be a running back as he was in 2003. It wasn’t until the arrival of Ray Rice that Leonard became a more traditional fullback for the good of the team. Even so, in 2005 he averaged over 100 all purpose yards per game. While it has been said in some circles that Leonard wishes to return to his earlier role, there is the potential he may be a fullback in the NFL.
The trouble with this concept is that Leonard is more of a runner as evidenced by his speed to the outside and comparisons to Justin Griffith, formerly of the Falcons. There is also speculation that the Rutgers product may be more effe...
