Behind the Numbers - Tracking the Ravens offense in 2011: Offense Hits Season Low in Loss to Jacksonville

Tracking the Ravens offense in 2011: Offense Hits Season Low in Loss to Jacksonville

Game 6 – October 25, 2011

I’ve been looking for a silver lining after watching the ghastly offensive performance against Jacksonville that saw the Ravens match their lowest point total since a 17-7 loss at Cincinnati back in November of 2009. What I struggled to come up with is that although the offense is clearly moving in the wrong direction there is time to right the ship.

Make no mistake about it there is real cause for concern, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel just yet. If the 12-7 loss had come in week 15 I would be far more worried. There are ten games left for Harbaugh and Cameron to work their magic and find the offense that will complement their #1 ranked defense.

The stats for first downs per game, third down conversions and Red Zone scoring percentage are all down from last year. But maybe the most disturbing number is the QB rating for fourth year starter Joe Flacco. With his rating standing at 76.2 Flacco is now ranked in the bottom quarter of the league. Over the last three games Flacco has now combined for five turnovers and one touchdown pass.
