Behind the Numbers - Ravens @ Falcons Game Day Primer

Plus Battle Plans including key matchups

Ravens @ Falcons Game Day Primer

Two teams with identical records kick off NFL Network’s Thursday night schedule. Enjoy this matchup of two former first round quarterback picks because these two teams meet for only the fourth time, and the first since 2006.

Baltimore leads the series 2-1 and won the last meeting on November 19, 2006, 24-10, when Jamal Lewis had 91 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns.  Roddy White was held to a single catch for 49 yards.

QB Matt Ryan looks to add to his impressive 17-1 home record while the Ravens seek just their third win versus nine losses in a domed stadium.

When you look at the stats of these two quarterbacks who will be forever tied at the hip given their 2008 first round draft status, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan pro careers to date are remarkably similar. Flacco has a career QB rating of 85.8 to Ryan’s 85.7. This season Ryan edges Flacco by a 90.2 to 88.9 margin. Ryan’s record is 26-12 while Flacco’s is 26-14 although Flacco does have 3 playoff wins to his credit while Ryan lost is only post season appearance.

All that said, don’t be surprised if this game hinges on a special teams play. It should be a close one.

Below you will find player and team stats comparisons. Check back here each week for the BTN Game Day Primer.
