Behind The Numbers: Tracking the Ravens new offense
The winds of change have been blowing and the cool breezes swept through Baltimore and left us with a new head coach, a new OC and a new quarterback. If you were a regular visitor to BTN last year, then It’s no secret that I was happy to see Brian Billick and his stale play calling get the pink slip last year. After watching the opening game vs. the Bengals I think it’s safe to say most fans, even the Billick huggers were excited about watching a new offensive system. Throughout the year BTN will track how Cam Cameron’s new system compares to how the team fared last year.

In week one the Ravens ran for a whopping 229 yards; the most since September 26th, 2004 when they tallied 254 yards rushing in a win at Cincinnati. A key stat to watch this year is third down conversions. Against the Bengals last week the Ravens were 9-17 (53%).  During the 2007 season the Ravens were better than 50% only two times.

In 2007 the Ravens were dead last in the NFL in turnover ratio and one of the worst teams inside the Red zone and unless both of those stats vastly improve this season, don’t count on making it back to the playoffs.

Check back each week to see if Cam’s new system is leading the boys in the right direction this year. Here’s where the offense stands after week 1.
