Joe Flacco got back on track and had a solid, if not dazzling, game against Pittsburgh. Although he did have a fumble, he did not throw any interceptions while completing one touchdown pass to WR Derrick Mason.
The Ravens passing game continues to rely heavily on the RBs. Do the RBs get 38% of the passes because the team lacks a consistent vertical threat, or is the offense really designed to limit the vertical component?
If you compare the Ravens pass distribution to the top five passing teams ranked by yardage, the Ravens rely on the running backs far more than other teams. Only Houston uses their RBs more than 26%, while the Indianapolis RBs see only 17% of Peyton Manning’s tosses.
The weather will be a factor for the remainder of the season as we enter December. One would hope the Ravens WRs will see a higher percentage of passes as the RBs will be seeing more carries.
Check BTN next week to see where Joe Flacco and the passing game stand.
