Now that the Ravens are more than four games into the 2006 season it’s time for the first quarter report card for the Offense.
 
In case you missed the articles reviewing the 2005 season, let me explain how these statistics were created.
 
This article analyzes the disparity in key statistical categories between the 2006 Ravens and the twelve other teams in the NFL having a winning record after week 4. I compiled the Offensive numbers and found the average of the 2006 winning teams. I then compared those averages to the stats of the 2006 Ravens through the first four games.
 
Again, the stats tell us the Ravens Offense is having problems in 2006. The table below lists the five “best” offensive categories for the Ravens through four games compared to the averages of the other winning teams. We’ll call this the “Good” list.

Doesn’t it seem like the Ravens never convert in the Red Zone? If the percentage stays near the 43% range all year they should be in good shape since the Red Zone visits should increase as Steve McNair continues to learn the Offense. Let’s hope the numbers in the “Ugly” list don’t get any worse.

Those rushing stats are disturbing for a team whose profile is run first. I think an increased work load for Mike Anderson and Musa Smith is in order. Hang in there…a bye week is coming up soon and you have to hope these numbers will look a lot better after eight games. Check back soon for the first quarter report card on the Ravens Defense.
